Martin Mansell is a lighting cameraman with over 26 years of experience in the industry. His love for the job and his technical ability are reflected in the high quality of his work. He is completely at home working in a studio, OB or PSC environment, supervising, operating or lighting and is well-accustomed to the high-pressures live TV can bring.
Highlights Martin is particularly proud of include lighting the BBC studio and collaborating with the set designer for the 2019 World Athletics in Doha and winning a ‘Golden Rings’ award for filming a PSC feature at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
A few of Martin’s credits include various state events such as Harry & Meghan’s wedding, State Opening of Parliament, Lady Thatcher’s funeral, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and Trooping the Colour.
Entertainment program credits include BBC Proms, Songs of Praise, The One Show working on over 50 episodes and Glastonbury Pyramid stage.
Lighting the OB studio for BBC Sport at various events, including the Masters Golf in Augusta over a period of 9 years, the Open Golf, the Ryder Cup, Six Nations Rugby, FA Cup, FA Cup Draw, Doha World Athletics and also for ITV Sport Horse Racing and Rugby World Cup 2015.
Martin has worked on every summer Olympics since 1996 and every winter Olympics since 2006, including London 2012, Rio 2018, Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, covering a mix of host, PSC and BBC pres roles. He also supervised the gymnastics at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 and has worked on the tennis at Wimbledon, Queens, Eastbourne and the O2 Masters, Formula One, British Touring cars, the London Marathon and the Boat Race.
Amongst Martin’s regular work is football for Match of the Day and he has been a familiar face at the BT Sport Studios since they launched in 2013 working on both Champions League and Europa League programs, amongst others, and at the Premier League Productions studios for IMG.
